We celebrate Reformation and Confirmation Day this Sunday at 1:00 in the Chapel!

Last Week

Thank you to all who were instrumental in our worship service on Sunday:

  • Pastor David Halaas who led us in worship and song! We also honored Pastor Halaas for Pastor Appreciation month with a gift card to Barnes and Noble!

  • Peg McAllister who provided bread for communion and assisted in serving communion.

  • Debbie Gibson who read scripture for us.

  • Brian Michaelson for serving as the usher for our service.

This Week

Conor
  • Our worship service features the Rite of Affirmation of Baptism for Conor Rathke, son of Mike and Kjersten Rathke, and will begin at 1:00 in the Chapel. Conor's chosen verse is Mark 12:31: "The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

  • Pastor Trish Underberg will preach and administer the Rite of Affirmation of Baptism. Pastor Joy Gonnerman will preside at the Table.

  • Kjersten Rathke will read scripture and Kay Allen will assist with communion.

  • We will also celebrate Reformation Sunday. Wear red!

  • The Rathkes are hosting a reception for Conor in the Fellowship Hall after the service and you are all invited to stay for that and offer congratulations to Conor!

Due to the service time change to 1:00 on Sunday, there will be no Faith + Fellowship time this coming Sunday.

We will next meet at 10:15 on Sunday, November 5.

Noisy offering will be taken up the last Sunday of every month and even though it is hard to believe, Sunday will be the last worship time in October! There will be a box on the sign up table for you to drop off your change!

After a few months, we will draw out a charity our group is interested in supporting from the following list members put together: Sleep in Heavenly Peace, MidSioux Opportunity's Adopt-a-Family, SAFE Place, Lakeside Bible Camp, Church of the Damascus Road, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, Lutheran mideast Development, and the Lundula Family ministry.

All Saints Sunday will be celebrated on Sunday, November 5th at 11:15 in the Chapel.

Please let Kay Michaelson know if you would like to honor a loved one who passed away in the last months of 2022 or in 2023.

Sound System Update!

A sound system has been ordered and arrived this week! It will be set up on Saturday morning for its first use on Sunday! Thank you to Angela Catton, Dave Grosenheider, Deacon Eric Haitz, Nick Gengler and others who were so helpful in getting and giving advice on the best system for our use!

We were gifted with memorial gifts from Dorathe Nielsen, Wanda Mammen, and Karen Bugge to make this enhancement to our worship possible!

Living Faith t-shirts, sweatshirts and (NEW!) hoodies are available for order! Maybe you purchased a t-shirt but would like a sweatshirt for the upcoming colder weather! Stop by the sign up table across from the entrance to the Chapel and put your order in!

T-shirts: $22

Crew neck sweatshirts: $28

Hooded sweatshirts: $32

There is an extra charge for sizes Tall/2XL/3XL

Orders and payment are due by November 12. Checks made out to Living Faith.

Service Opportunities for You in Our Community

Stop by Calvin Christian Reformed Church and pick up an Operation Christmas Child box available in the lobby!

Thanksgiving Help!

Living Faith has the privilege of helping Rejoice Community Church with its annual Thanksgiving meal! Volunteers are needed on November 11 at 1:00 to help with taking turkey meat off the bones to freeze. If you can help on Thanksgiving Day, drivers are needed for delivering meals. Drivers are desired (2 people per car) - 6 or so - and the shifts are 10:00 - 11:30 and 11:30 - 1:00. There will be a sign up sheet on the table for you to volunteer for this community outreach!

Pioneer Village Christmas Needs!

There are 2 ways to serve at this event:

  1. Man a craft table with craft provided (peel and stick ornament from Oriental Trading). Tasks involved are setting out kits for children stopping by, help anyone who needs assistance and clean up after ornament is made. We will be finding out which date we will be helping (either Dec. 2 or 3 or 9 or 10) but the times would be 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm

  2. Serving Food - Help is needed on December 3rd or 10th from 5:30 - 8:30. This would involved pulling hot dogs from a roaster, putting them in a bun and handing them to the visitor. Visitors will also pick up a bag of chips and pop.

Look for sign ups for Pioneer Village help once a few more details are ironed out for complete information for you!

This October marks Pastor Jan's 15th year with the PUCC here in Le Mars. Living Faith marked this occasion by gifting her with a crystal sun catcher.

Here is a thank you note from Pastor Jan:

"Dear Friends from Living Faith,

Thanks for so kindly remembering me with the lovely gift for my 15th Anniversary of serving at PUCC. I found a perfect place to hang it by a window where I can enjoy the beauty of the crystal and be reminded of the many facets of our God and the way we encounter God in life and ministry. This will particularly serve as a reminder of the joy of serving together with you and the blessing that continues to be! Thanks so much!" Pastor Jan

Please keep the following in your prayers this week:

Baby Morgan and her parents.

Kevin Olson - There is a benefit soup dinner and silent auction for Kevin on Saturday, December 2nd from 4:30 - 9 PM at the Le Mars Eagles Club. The dinner is a free will donation.

Beth Kehrberg who is recovering from a fall.

Ardis Boetger's daughter, Katie, who is recovering from an injury and expecting a baby soon!

The Living Faith member you are praying for each day.

Conor Rathke and his Confirmation Day!
