Living Faith Weekly News (Week of September 27, 2026)
Pastor Paige's message on the 18th Sunday after Pentecost centered on Jesus' looking at our actions rather than our words. Pastor Paige summed up her message with 3 points:
1. You can always change your mind and your ways.
2. You are called to believe with your actions.
3. The Kingdom of God is already yours. You are free to serve your neighbor without worrying how others perceive you.

Sunday, October 4
Pastor Paige Quanbeck will lead Living Faith Lutheran Church in worship on Sunday, October 4 in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE) at 11:00 AM. Gail Kass will accompany us on the piano and Karen Schroeder will read scripture. If you would like to assist with Holy Communion, please let Kay know. Tim Kass will usher and run the sound system for us and Jenni Mack will live stream our service. All belong at Living Faith! Worship with us!
Immediately following worship, Pastor Paige will share the proposed Living Faith Mission Statement. This statement is a draft the Church Council crafted based on their review of all the input given from the three congregational Visioning Sessions held earlier this year. Members will be asked to contemplate and give reactions to this statement prior to an adoption of the final draft at a later date. Pastor Paige will also distribute a survey of core values for the members to complete. Please plan to stay to receive this information!
You are welcome to arrive at church early next Sunday and attend Bible Study at 9:30 led by Pastor Paige in Room 105. During the hour, we look at one of the readings for the day and discuss it together! The coffee is on and there's a seat at the table for you!
After Bible Study and prior to worship, plan to join our PUCC friends during Fellowship Hour in the Fellowship Hall!
S'mores and Ashes
Sunday, October 4th at 4:00 PM
PUCC Parking Lot
This coming Sunday at 4:00 PM, Living Faith will gather in the parking lot of the PUCC to hold its traditional event of S'mores and Ashes (weather permitting)! We will burn the palm branches from Palm Sunday to create ashes to be used on Ash Wednesday of 2027. Then we will enjoy a time of fellowship as we treat ourselves to s'mores over an open fire. Please bring a lawn chair to this event!
Mark and Cheryl Juhl will provide one of the fire pits and the fixings for the s'mores. Dell and June Ferguson will tend the fire for the marshmallow roasting. Brian and Kay Michaelson will provide the fire pit for the burning of the palm branches.

Packing Snacks for the Le Mars Backpack Program!
Living Faith will help pack snacks today at the Nohava Construction building at 4:30 PM. Put on your Living Faith gear and meet on the east side of the building. Enter through the door marked with the Backpack Program picture. This project should take about a half hour to complete! Come help out with this ministry in our community!
Confirmation students will meet on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00 PM in Room 105.

Sunday, October 11th - Belonging Sunday!
Living Faith will welcome those who choose to become new members on Sunday, October 11 at our 11:00 AM service. You do not need to be a member to belong to Living Faith, however, membership does allow individuals to be involved on a deeper level, in particular, on the business side of belonging to a church. Please see Pastor Paige if you wish to become a member of the church.
Recap of our Give a Leg Up Project
Thank you to all who contributed to our "Give a Leg Up" project to collect leggings and sweatpants for our three elementary schools' nurse's offices! We gathered 33 pairs of pants and $85 in monetary donations for the nurse to purchase items as needs arise throughout the school year. Response from Rhonda Lassen, LCHS elementary school nurse,: "We are totally in need of pants. So appreciate your church's support!"
October's Mission Project
Living Faith will collect items to put together a care package for Kortney Kopperud, freshman student at the University of Iowa! Kortney will be coming up on her midterms for the fall semester and a box of support from her home church would help her to know we are thinking of her!
There is a collection box on the Living Faith table in the narthex of the PUCC. There are also shopping lists you can pick up if you'd like some ideas on what to contribute. We will collect items for the four Sundays in October (deadline October 25) and get the package shipped off before the end of the month!
