Living Faith Weekly News (Week of September 13, 2026)

Sunday, September 13th

Living Faith observed God's Work. Our Hands Sunday by attending a lay-led service which featured a Celebration of Vocation and Hand Blessing:
We are called to proclaim the good news: God is at work! This good news is not left in some history long ago or a place far away: God is at work in the world still today!
In us and through us, God is glorified in our work.
When we offer a helping hand, God is praised. When we share of our abundance, God is known in the world. God is at work in us!
In our service today and in our daily lives, let us live out what God has called us to in baptism. God is at work through our hands!
After worship, we adjourned to the Fellowship Hall and kitchen to bake and prepare cookie boxes for those working at the Plymouth County Jail, Floyd Valley Hospital, the Le Mars Fire Station and the Le Mars Police Station.
Thank you to all who helped out with Sunday's service: Mark Catton, Jim and Sandy Heeren, Pixie Balt, Yvonne Law, Brian and Kay Michaelson, Tim and Gail Kass, Sue Stream, and Jenni Mack.

Cookie Making and Deliveries!
Thank you to all who stayed after service to participate in our service project for the day! Thank you to Gail Kass, Yvonne Law and Kay Michaelson for providing refreshments for the group to enjoy while the cookies baked! Thank you to Yvonne Law for providing some of the cookies that were packed up and delivered! It was a joy to be together, working to say thank you in a small way to those in our community who work for us!

Next Sunday - September 20th

We welcome back Pastor Paige Quanbeck to the sanctuary of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE) to lead worship on Sunday at 11:00 AM! Gail Kass will accompany us on the piano, Sue Stream will assist with Holy Communion and if you would like to read scripture, please let Kay know! Tim Kass will usher and Angela Catton will live stream our service.

We hope you can join in on Fellowship time this Sunday at 10:00 AM in the Fellowship Hall of the PUCC. Coffee and treats will be served and the conversation with our PUCC friends is always lively! Thank you to Gail Kass for serving during last week's Fellowship time!

Confirmation begins tonight (Wednesday) at 7:00. Mentors are asked to attend tonight's session as well!

Congratulations and best wishes to Paige and Bailey who were married on Saturday at Lutheran Lakeside Bible Camp near Spirit Lake! It was a lovely September day for them and their friends and relatives who gathered! We hope you can attend Living Faith's celebration for them this coming Saturday!

Mission Project Extended

We will continue collecting leggings and sweatpants and donations for our elementary students' nurses offices through September 27. Clothing items can be dropped off in the bin on the Living Faith table in the narthex of the PUCC. If you wish to give a monetary donation, there is a box right next to the clothing bin for those to be placed into. Thank you, Living Faith!

Spirit 712 is partnering with Rejoice Community Church to bring back to Le Mars Jason Gray and Acoustic Story Time. This year Jason's guests will be Stars Go Dim and Blanca. The concert will be held at Rejoice on Saturday, September 26 at 7:00 PM. Thanks to a grant from the Gilchrist Foundation, there is no charge for this concert. (A freewill donation will be taken at the door.) If you have any questions, please visit with Dave Grosenheider.

Pastor Paige will be leading worship at the Le Mars care homes on October 28th and November 4th.
Registration will open in October for the Youth Gathering in Minneapolis next summer. There are 3 youth from Living Faith who are interested in attending!
7 students are beginning their confirmation year on Wednesday.
Kay Michaelson will be attending a webinar on Friday to hear updated information from our insurance carrier, Portico, for Pastor Paige.
Pastor Paige has been nominated and accepted to attend the ELCA Mission Leadership Training in Chicago October 6 - 8. This continuing education opportunity is an exciting one for Pastor Paige where she will be attending sessions on storytelling, outreach and fundraising. She will be able to apply what she learns to both our Living Faith ministry and the Fully Beloved ministry.
On October 4, Pastor Paige will share with the congregation the mission statement the church council has drafted for the members of Living Faith to give input. The mission statement was crafted from the three visioning sessions we had last spring and summer. The congregation will also be given a survey of core values suggested from theose sessions. The survey's intent is to narrow the suggestions down to five or so.
The complete minutes from the September 15 meeting are in binder located in Room 105.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Pastor Paige and Bailey Quanbeck and Paige's family upon the passing of Pastor Paige's uncle, Craig Wulf. Craig's funeral service will be held in Spokane, Washington on Wednesday, September 23. Pastor Paige will be with her family at this service from September 22 - 24.
