Pastor Paige led our service which began with the Invocation led by some of the Vacation Bible School students who had met earlier in the morning.
Dave Grosenheider led us in music for the service. Thank you, Dave, for sharing your gift of song! Dave also provided the sound system for our outdoor service.

The Gospel for the day, the story of The Good Samaritan, was borne out with a Children's Sermon featuring a skit from some of the VBS attendees and a message from Pastor Paige which concluded with a series of questions to discuss:
Retell the story of the Good Samaritan in a modern context. Who is your neighbor in need? Where do you see "Good Samaritans" in action?
When have you seen the commandment to love your neighbor enacted successfully? When have you seen failure in loving one's neighbor?
Who would you not expect compassion from in your daily life? How might you show compassion to that person or group?
How can the church be a group of Good Samaritans?
How are you going to love your neighbor this week? Be specific.
Here are photos from the Children's Sermon and VBS skit which was a modern take on the Good Samaritan story. Click on the arrow within the first photo on the right to see all the pictures.
The VBS kids also shared a song they learned during their time together!
Thank you to Kay Michaelson for reading scripture, Sue Stream for assisting with Holy Communion, and Tim Kass for ushering. Thank you also to everyone who assisted with setting up our worship space outside!
We are grateful for the opportunity to come together to worship on a beautiful Iowa summer Sunday!
After our worship service, all were invited to stay for a lunch featuring pulled pork sandwiches and sides and desserts courtesy of Living Faith members! Thank you to John and Peg McAllister for smoking the pork for our meal!

During our meal, each table sent video greetings to Kay Allen. We missed you, Kay!

Thank you to all who came to Living Faith's Sunday morning Vacation Bible School and to Pastor Paige for leading the morning session. We had 7 students learn about The Good Samaritan story, play games together, and create a craft! Thank you to helpers Jenni Mack, Jolene Odens, Emily Odens and Claire Odens!

All are welcome to Living Faith Lutheran Church on Sunday, July 20th, for our worship service which will take place at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE). Tim Kass will greet you when you enter the narthex! Pastor Paige will preside over worship where we will hear the Gospel message and celebrate Holy Communion. This week, we welcome Mike Rathke who will lead us in music! Travis Balt will assist with Communion. If you would like to read scripture on Sunday, please contact Kay.

Faith + Fellowship hour will take place prior to worship at 10:00 in the Fellowship Hall of the PUCC. Come grab a cup of coffee and visit with our PUCC friends!

Living Faith wishes to expand its ushering crew! We are looking for individuals of any age who would like to help with ushering on Sunday mornings!
Duties include:
Arriving to church by 10:45 to greet worshipers and hand out bulletins.
Passing around the offering plates during the service and counting how many are in church.
Letting worshipers know when to go up for communion.
There is a sign up sheet on the Living Faith table in the narthex for you to select a date that you would like to help!

Confirmation classes will be starting up in September but now is the time for parents who have students who are entering 6th grade to consider this educational opportunity! Please speak with Pastor Paige if you are interested in having your student attend to get more information on this program!
