**New Bishop-elect from last week's ELCA Churchwide Assembly**

Last week, the ELCA Churchwide Assembly gathered in Phoenix, Arizona for an important assembly which included the election of a new bishop. The next churchwide assembly will take place in Des Moines in 2028!

Thank you to everyone who helped in worship on Sunday: Pastor Paige, Gail Kass, Peg McAllister, Mark Catton, Tim Kass, Brian Michaelson, Yvonne Law, Sharon Utesch, and Todd Lang. It was good to gather together on a rainy Sunday morning!

11:00 is the time and the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE) is the place where worship happens! Next week, Pastor Paige will lead us in worship, Gail Kass will accompany us on the piano, Nathan Summerside will read scripture and Kari Kopperud will assist with Holy Communion.

At 10:00 every Sunday morning, Living Faith and the PUCC enjoy an informal time of fellowship together. Plan to join us on Sunday!

Living Faith Service Projects!

Living Faith is partnering with the PUCC to deliver Meals on Wheels for the weekdays of August 18 - September 12. The time obligation for this service project are weekdays from 10:30 - 11:15 AM. Please consider signing up for as many days as your schedule allows if you are free during those morning hours! Kay Michaelson or Yvonne Law can answer any questions you may have. Living Faith's obligation for this project are to speak for any 2 of the weeks on this schedule. We have one more week to fill out!

Living Faith is helping the Middle School nurse's office to stock up on underwear for the school year! All sizes are welcome but especially sizes around 5 and 6. Drop your donations off into the marked box on the Living Faith sign up table in the PUCC narthex! Collections will take place between August 10th and September 1st!

Le Mars Backpack Program

Mark your calendars for the dates of September 29 and January 12! Those Mondays are the days Living Faith will assist with filling snack packs for the Le Mars Backpack program.

August Events

Saturday, August 16

Lutheran Men in Mission will be meeting at 10:00 on Saturday, August 16th at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake and all men of Living Faith are invited to attend! This group is tentatively working with Spirit Lake's chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace to do a bed build on October 4. More information to come!

Saturday, August 23

The Church Council will hold a retreat on Saturday, August 23 from 9:00 - 2:00 at Pastor Paige's apartment.

Sunday, August 24

All students and school personnel are invited to bring your backpacks to worship on Sunday, August 24 where a blessing will be prayed for you and charms for your backpack for the 2025 - 2026 school year will be handed out.

WELCOME, PUCC WORSHIPERS!

Members of the PUCC are invited to come worship with Living Faith at 11:00 on Sunday, August 24 as Pastor Jan is away for continuing education! Bring your backpacks!

John and Peg McAllister invite Living Faith to their home in Oyens (310 Park Street) on Sunday, August 24th at 4:00 PM. Come enjoy a relaxing afternoon of fellowship! Bring a lawn chair, a munchie to share, and a beverage of your choice if you're not a Hamm's fan! Pulled pork sandwiches will be provided.

Sunday, August 31

Spark Story Bibles will be handed out to new families of Living Faith at our 11:00 service. Also, new Confirmation students will receive their Lutheran Study Bibles for the upcoming Confirmation season!

How Living Faith Will Kick Off the Fall Season!

There are new things brewing at Living Faith this fall and they will be starting the first Wednesday and Sunday in September!

Wednesday, September 3

The first Confirmation session will be held on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 for all 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th graders! Pastor Paige and Vicar Grace from Christ Lutheran Church will be leading the sessions with the location yet to be determined! Parents, please see Pastor Paige if you wish for your student to join this program!

Sunday, September 7

Living Faith will be starting a Bible Study session on Sunday, September 7 at 9:30 AM in Room 105. Join us for coffee and an hour of study and conversation led by Pastor Paige! At 10:30, we will adjourn to the Fellowship Hall to join the PUCC in conversation and fellowship while our worship space is being prepared.

Sunday, September 7

The Church Council is working on plans for God's Work Our Hands Sunday on September 7. If you have suggestions for projects that fill a need, please let any council member know. We may be doing a project that day following worship or we might be helping with an ongoing need to be met on different days. More details will follow as plans are firmed up.

Western Iowa Synod Happenings

Here is all the information about the upcoming installation of Bishop elect Rev. Scott Dalen. Our own Pastor Paige will be the assisting minister for this service! If you would like to attend, please scan the QR code on the above invitation to RSVP by September 10th.
