Worship at Living Faith on July 6!

Living Faith gathered on the fourth Sunday of Pentecost to hear the Gospel message of Luke 10:1 - 11 and 16 - 20 from Pastor Paige. After her message, she asked the congregation to group up and discuss one of three questions:

How does reading this Gospel as a parable: God as host, you as guest, change your understanding of hospitality in the church?
When you proclaim, "Come and see what God has done.", what story will you tell? What has God done in your life?
Where have you experienced belonging or hospitality and how will you replicate that here in the church?
We were encouraged to continue to contemplate these questions this upcoming week.

Pastor Paige read from the book, Picturing God, to get us to thinking of all the imagery of God that is included throughout the Bible.

Living Faith will gather at 11:00 AM on the front lawn of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE) for our annual outdoor worship service! Pastor Paige will lead worship and Dave Grosenheider will lead us with music! If you would like to read scripture for our worship service, please let Kay know. We will have having communion by intinction, dipping the wafer in the wine, and Sue Stream will be assisting with this. Bring your lawn chair and join us under the shade tree as we worship together!

Please stay for our picnic lunch after worship in the PUCC Fellowship Hall!

Pulled pork sandwiches, smoked by John and Peg McAllister, and hot dogs will be provided by the Church Council. The Council will also have water and coffee available. Please bring a side dish or dessert along with your table service.

When!: Sunday, July 13th from 9:00 - 10:45

Where!: Living Faith Lutheran Church at the PUCC! Meet in Pastor Paige's office, room 105 to start the morning!

Who!: 4 year olds through 5th graders and their friends!

Faith + Fellowship is still on during the summer months! Come to the Fellowship Hall at 10:00, prior to worship, to enjoy treats and coffee with our PUCC friends!

These envelopes are on the Living Faith table in the narthex of the PUCC if you wish to contribute to the work of the ELCA in regards to the flooding in Texas. Lutheran World Relief is working with local partners there to address immediate needs for folks who have been displaced.

We are looking for individuals of any age who would like to help with ushering on Sunday mornings.

Duties include:

Arriving to church by 10:45 to greet worshipers and hand out bulletins.
Passing around the offering plates during the service and counting how many are in church.
Letting worshipers know when to go up for communion.

There is a sign up sheet on the Living Faith table in the narthex for you to select a date that you would like to help out!

Painting is complete in Pastor Paige's office and our meeting space and now we are awaiting the installation of the new carpeting! Thank you to everyone who helped out with this project and to Tim Kass for taking out the vinyl base cove. Stop by the office to ooh and aah!

OOPS! Oh, yes! No worries! New flooring comes soon!

We had many who lent us painting supplies! Thank you so much! If any of these items are yours, please stop by the office to pick them up!

There will be no office hours on Monday, July 7th and Monday, July 14th. Pastor Paige will be in the office on Thursday, July 10 and Thursday, July 17 from 1:00 - 4:00. Regular Monday office hours of 10:00 - 2:00 will resume Monday, July 21.

Living Faith will be partnering with the PUCC to deliver Meals on Wheels to Le Mars residents the weeks of August 18 - September 12. Be looking for a sign up display in the narthex towards the end of the month to volunteer for this Monday - Friday, 10:30 - 11:15 AM ministry.

Pastor Paige will be leading the Church Council at a retreat on Saturday, August 23 from 9:00 - 2:00.

Living Faith partners will area Lutheran churches to provide Confirmation classes for 6th graders - 9th graders on Wednesday evenings beginning the first Wednesday after Labor Day. Please see Pastor Paige if you have a student in any of those grades to answer any questions you may have about this program and if you are interested in having your student(s) be a part of this educational experience.

God's Work. Our Hands. Sunday is September 7th. Be on the lookout for any project you come across that you think would be a good one for our congregation to do on this date and share it with a Church Council member!
