First Sunday in Advent. We light the candle of Hope as we wait in patience and hope for the Christ Child.

Last Week

Our lay led service had many to thank for putting together meaningful worship on the first Sunday in Advent!

Thank you to:

  • Mr. Eldon Bensen of Lutheran Services of Iowa who brought a message of how LSI impacts those in need in our area! Mr. Bensen assists with refugee resettlement along with his responsibilities of philanthropy. Thank you, Mr. Bensen, for giving us information about how Living Faith members can use their time, talents, and treasures for others!

  • Gail Kass for accompanying us on the piano and Kjersten Rathke for leading us in the Holden Evening Prayer service. These two ladies put in extra time this past week to start our Advent season off with the beautiful Holden Evening Prayer service!

  • The Leadership Team for leading the other parts of our worship service.

  • Debbie Gibson for reading scripture.

  • Tim Kass for ushering.

  • Angela Catton for live streaming our hour of worship.

Next Week

Pastor Joy Gonnerman returns to the Chapel to preside and preach for the second Sunday in Advent! Brian Michaelson will read Scripture and Peg McAllister will assist with Holy Communion.

We will light the candle of Peace, also known as the Bethlehem candle, and hear the story of John the Baptist. We are encouraged to remember God's faithfulness and to embrace Jesus' promised peace now.

ALL are invited to the Faith + Fellowship Christmas brunch at 10:15 in Room 103 Sunday morning!

Casey's breakfast pizza, fresh fruit, coffee cake, juice and coffee are on the menu!

We would love to have a big crowd around the table on Sunday! Plan to join us!

Living Faith Advent Project

Thank you to all who have picked up a basket or bucket and filled them with personal hygiene products or cleaning products! We have lots of good things from generous members under our tree in the Chapel!

If you would like to be a part of this project, you can purchase any of the following and put your bag under the tree by Sunday, December 17. All items will be delivered to Mid-Sioux who will distribute them to those in need in our area.

Here are suggestions for hygiene supplies: toothpaste, bar soap, band-aids, wash cloths, antibacterial ointment, hand sanitizer, shampoo and conditioner and deodorant.

Cleaning supplies: laundry soap, dish soap, toilet bowl cleaner, window cleaner, all purpose cleaner, toilet brush, microfiber cloths, duster, and scrub brush.

You do not have to purchase everything listed for the type of supplies you choose to purchase nor are you limited to what is listed!

Thank you again for your generosity!

Sunday, December 10 - 3:00 PM: Christmas Caroling! Meet in the Fellowship Hall of the PUCC.

Thank you to Dawn Richards, Sandy Heeren and Gail Kass for volunteering to supply items for the soup supper following!

Sunday, December 10 - 3:00 PM: Blue Christmas at Peirce Mansion in Sioux City.

Living Faith is having a Christmas program on Sunday, December 17th at the 11:15 service! This is a non-rehearsed, low-prep, no-stress program where everyone will have a chance to participate in a no-worries way! Children will especially want to come and participate but all ages will have their chance to shine!

We are aiming for a Christmas Choir contribution for our December 17th 11:15 worship and it's not to late to join in!

Let Kay know of your interest. We are planning a one time rehearsal, most likely the morning of December 16 - Kay will be texting those who volunteer a firm time and date once music is chosen!
