3rd Sunday after Epiphany

Light was the theme of Sunday's worship, reflected in song and scripture and message. The meditation on the Gospel, Matthew 4:12 - 23, was from the blog of Pastor James Laurence who serves the First Lutheran Church outside of Albermarle, North Carolina. Pastor Laurence has a blog called Pastoral Ponderings and you can listen to the meditation on Living Faith's Facebook page where Sunday's service was live-streamed.

Thank you to all who helped out in worship in Pastor Paige's absence (Get well soon, Pastor Paige!): Kay Michaelson, Jess Kopperud, Dawn Richards, Mark Catton, Tim Kass, Angela Catton, Todd Lang, Yvonne Law, and Sharon Utesch.

Living Faith opens its doors to all for worship and we invite you to come in on Sunday, February 1st at 11:00 AM at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ's sanctuary. We are located at 858 7th Ave. SE in Le Mars. Pastor Paige McGrath will lead us in worship. Gail Kass will accompany us on the piano. Debbie Gibson will read scripture. If you would like to assist with Holy Communion, please let Kay know.

After worship on Sunday, you are invited to a Celebration of 2025 meal in the Fellowship Hall of the PUCC. Mama Barb's will be catering this meal and the menu consists of: smothered chicken, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, macaroni salad, and bars and cookies. The Church Council will provide coffee, water and lemonade.

Living Faith's Annual Meeting will be held immediately after our noon meal, at 1:00. All confirmed members who have made at least one monetary donation to Living Faith in 2025, are eligible to vote at this meeting. Members will be voting on a new Church Council member, the 2026 budget, and disbursement of 2025 Noisy Offering monies. We will also hear reports from Pastor Paige and Council members. Annual reports are available on the Living Faith table and have also been emailed and can be viewed from your email link. Even if you are not eligible to vote on Sunday, please come and hear about Living Faith and its 2026!

Additionally, next Sunday Living Faith welcomes all to Bible Study at 9:30 AM in Room 105. We looking at 1 Corinthians during this time of Epiphany as that is where we find our second reading of the day each Sunday.

After Bible Study, head over to the Fellowship Hall for refreshments prior to our 11:00 worship service.

Confirmation Classes will be held Wednesday, January 28 at 7:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Brunsville. Pastor Paige and Vicar Grace lead these classes.

Bishop Scott Dalen will visit Living Faith on Sunday, February 8th during our 11:00 AM worship service. He will be delivering the message that day.

The sign up for Meals on Wheels is out and ready for your consideration! Living Faith and the PUCC are partnering up to cover four weeks of delivery from February 17 - March 13. There are 8 routes for these weeks, 2 per week to be served. As a result, Living Faith is responsible for covering 4 of the shifts during those weeks. Meals are picked up at 10:30 from the Senior Center, 40 1/2 Central Ave. SE (behind City Hall). Routes take about a half hour to complete. Kay Michaelson and Yvonne Law have signed up for one of the shifts, so there are 3 left to be filled for Living Faith.

If you are interested in helping with a Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build, there is one happening in Le Mars on Saturday, March 28th at Le Mars Chevy and GMC. There are two different shifts: one from 9 - 11 where 40 spots are available and one from 1 - 3 where 30 spots are available.

You must register online if you would like to participate. Here is the link to register:

Scroll down to the March 28th date and choose the shift you wish to attend.

Living Faith will also be participating in Sleep in Heavenly Peace's Egg Tree fundraiser where you will have the opportunity to donate specific items to this ministry. Look for more details on this in future newsletters!

Living Faith Ash Wednesday services will be held Wednesday, February 18th. Time and location will be announced soon.

Congratulations to Dave and Robin Grosenheider whose business, Hotopp Jewelry and Gifts, was honored last Thursday at the Le Mars Chamber of Commerce dinner! The Grosenheiders were the recipients of the Business of the Year award for their contributions to community development and as a recognition of their 48 years of quality service in Le Mars. A well-deserved honor!
