Last Week
Pastor Halaas delivered a message about the 23rd Psalm: Move from anxiety to assuredness by finding your "grateful center". Discover your grateful center to be rooted and grounded in the love of God. We often keep one foot living in the house of fear and one foot in the house of the Lord and His love. Be scooped up by the love of the waiting arms of the Lord: John 15:4 - "Make your home in me (abide in me) and I will abide in you."
Then we are sent out to be brave, authentic, free, disruptive disciples of Christ! Check into Living Faith's Facebook page to hear all of Pastor Halaas' sermon from Good Shepherd Sunday.
Thank you to Gail Kass for providing piano accompaniment on Sunday, Yvonne Law for reading scripture, Kay Allen for assisting with communion, Tim Kass for ushering and Peg McAllister for baking bread and setting up communion!

This Week

We worship at 11:15 on Sunday mornings in the Chapel at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ (858 7th Ave. SE) and we would love to have you join us! Pastor Halaas will preside over worship and Holy Communion and accompany for us. Sharon Utesch will greet you at the door, Peg McAllister will prepare the elements for Holy Communion, and Karen Schroeder will read scripture. If you would like to assist with Holy Communion during worship, please let Kay know.

Coffee is on in Room 103 at 10:15 on Sunday mornings and we welcome you to join! In fact, the topic of welcome was discussed last Sunday! How do we make each other feel welcome during worship? Before and after worship? Do name tags indicate a word of welcome? We have a desire to be called by name! Re-listen to that familiar theme song from the television show "Cheers" via YouTube and put it in the context of welcome at church!

The Noisy Offering Box will be back out on the sign-up table this Sunday for you to drop your change into!
The Noisy Offering monies will go to a local entity to be determined at a later date.
Check the sign up table also for the worship volunteer sheet to choose a date and task in worship that you would like to do! All ages are encouraged to sign up!

Thank you, Sandy Heeren, for serving as Living Faith's delegate to the Synod Assembly on April 19 and 20! Mark Juhl and Pastor Halaas attended the Assembly as well. Sandy gave a report about the Assembly during worship on Sunday.
She reports that the video created by Angela Catton as a part of the video loops of information for Assembly delegates was actually played for all the Assembly during the weekend! Thank you, again, Angela, for your diligent work on this video! See last week's weekly news for Living Faith to view this video.
Bishop Lorna Halaas announced her intention not to run again for Bishop so at next year's Assembly, which will be held in June, a new bishop will be chosen. The Assembly featured many youth from the Western Iowa Synod who will be attending the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer. The Synod offering was divided in the following manner: 3/4 to the youth attending the Gathering and 1/4 to the Western Iowa Synod's Hog Project to feed the hungry in western Iowa. There is a summary sheet of Assembly happenings on the sign up table for your review.
Sandy encourages Living Faith members to consider volunteering to be a delegate in the future as she found it to be a very good experience!

Happy 1st Birthday, Living Faith!

On April 23, 2023, a charter-signing was held for those who wanted to become a ground floor member to this Synodically Authorized Worshiping Community - a new ELCA church in the Western Iowa synod! What a first year it has been! We have been blessed in so many ways by God and our Western Iowa Synod brothers and sisters in Christ! We prayerfully step out in faith in our second year to minister to one another and to be the hands and feet of Jesus to our brothers and sisters in the Le Mars community, the state of Iowa, and in our nation and the world!

We would love to welcome YOU into membership at Living Faith!
Please let Pastor Halaas (701-430-3393 or david.halaas.rev@wisynod.org) or Kay Michaelson (712-540-5368 or bkmich4@gmail.com) know if you are interested in membership as soon as possible. We'd like to welcome you this Sunday!
